December 2024 was the time I finished my BIM 4th Semester exams. Since my academic internship was still about two years away, I suddenly found myself with enough of free time.
One day, a simple thought came to my mind:
“What if I start my internship now instead of waiting? Maybe I got a chance to learn something new in a free time.”
That single thought became the beginning of an unforgettable journey.
The Search Begins
Like most beginners, I had no idea where to start.
So I opened Google and searched the keyword:
“Best IT companies in Pokhara.” 😁
It gave me a long list of companies, but I quickly realized something important I couldn’t apply without a proper resume.
That led me to another round of research.
I searched for the easiest way to create a professional resume and I got a way through Google Docs Resume Templates. They looked clean, simple, and professional, so I decided to use that one.
Creating the resume wasn’t too difficult… until I reached one section.
Experience.…..
The template had several impressive examples, but I have no professional experience. I felt like a newborn stepping into the IT industry.
Once again, I turned to Google.
I searched:
“What should I write in the Experience section if I’m a fresher?”
The answer was simple be honest.
So I proudly wrote “Fresher.”
I listed the skills I was learning, completed the resume, and finally felt ready to apply.
My First Applications
Without knowing whether the companies were actually offering internship positions, I applied to the top three companies I had found on Google. ” Best Top 3 Company in pokhara”🤣
Then I waited.
A few days later, while I was enjoying a PUBG match, I received an email notification.
Curious, I immediately left the game and opened my inbox.
It wasn’t the email I had hoped for.
The company politely informed me that there were currently no internship positions available. They appreciated my interest and encouraged me to continue improving my skills before applying again in the future.
Another company gave me even more direct feedback. They told me that I needed stronger technical skills before they could consider me for an internship.
Reading those emails was disappointing not because of they offer me internship it’s because i don’t had proper skills at that time. I realized that the knowledge I had gained in college was mostly theoretical, while companies were looking for practical skills and real-world experience.
Although it hurt, those rejections taught me an important lesson:
“Being rejected doesn’t mean you’re not capable it simply means you still have room to grow.“
A New Opportunity
After sharing everything with my father, he suggested that I visit BG Tech.
I decided to give it a try.
When I reached out, I had a conversation with the company’s owner through WhatsApp. He was living in Australia and managing the company from there.
We talked for around 30–45 minutes.
Instead of focusing on what I know, he focused on my willingness to learn.
He understood me and offered an internship.
That moment changed everything.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Because of the time difference with Australia, I started waking up at 5:00 AM so I could match his schedule.
Being extremely busy, he generously shared his knowledge and guided me through the technologies that interested me.
I initially worked remotely.
After a few days, he introduced me to the company’s WordPress developer, He was patient, friendly, and always willing to answer my questions no matter how small they seemed. He never hesitated to explain concepts again if I didn’t understand them the first time.
That kind of mentorship made learning enjoyable. And I started contributing to internal projects.
Working with him was an amazing experience.
Office Life
Eventually, I began working from the office from 6am – 11am. There was another intern who had joined about two weeks before me in the SEO department.
He was so supportive. He always motivated me, shared his knowledge and ideas, and encouraged me to keep learning.
Looking Back
When I think about this journey, I realize that it all started with a simple Google search.
Today, I’m grateful not only for the technical skills I gained but also for the confidence, discipline, and mindset that this internship helped me build.
A heartfelt thank you to BG Tech, the company owner who believed in a beginner, my WordPress mentor who patiently taught me, and my fellow intern who constantly inspired me.
This journey reminded me that everyone starts somewhere.
You don’t need to know everything.
You just need the courage to take the first step and the determination to keep learning.
And for me…
that first step was simply searching “Best IT companies in Pokhara.” 😊
